The home made French Bread and Cheesecakes are two of the favorite foods at The Inn at Battle Creek.

While many loaves are baked fresh daily for serving Dinner guests, extra bread is made for French Toast for breakfast guests.

You can also add a little olive oil to the recipe for a pizza dough.

French Bread

Ingredients

5 t. Yeast

2 t. Salt

2 Cups of Water

6 Cups of Bread Flour

Instructions

1. Combine Yeast, Salt and Water in KichenAide mixing bowl.

2. Add Flour and mix with dough hook for 5 minutes.

3. Spray bowl with degreaser (i.e. Pam). Remove dough and place in bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise until doubled in size; about 30-45 minutes.

4. Form into 2 long, cylindrical loaves. Place in french bread pans. Gash with sharp knife diagonially, 3-5 times. Cover with towel and allow to rise until doubled again; about 45 minutes.

5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Makes 2 loaves.
